Trail Notes / Current Conditions:

September 10, 2017 - the Balmoral Trail Reroutes are finished - Following logging harvest last year, BC Timber Sales, CSRD Parks, Community Volunteers, and the Shuswap Trail Alliance have worked together under authorization from Recreation Sites and Trails BC to plan, approve and install new reroute trails relinking the upper Balmoral Trail system. The result is several new loop options to consider including a longer upper Balmoral loop trail all on a purpose built single track hiking/biking/EQ trail, plus the through trail routes to both Blind Bay Lookout and White Lake are now reconnected.

Equestrian users are asked to avoid the newly built reroute sections temporarily for this season to let the new trail tread pack down. They'll be EQ rideable in 2019.

And ATV/Motorcylcle users can link a loop around to include the new Bayview cut block which gives some impressive new vistas over Blind Bay and the lake.

NOTE, however, there is no longer any access to the trail system from the South off Sherry Road. This route, which crossed private land has been decommissioned following the logging harvest. Non-motorized trail users must use the Balmoral Trailhead, and motorized users must use the White Lake FSRoad access (there's lots of parking for staging right at the start of the FSRoad just off Parri Road next to the Fire Hall and Community Centre.)

Trail Description:

The Balmoral Bluffs trail system, was created in 2008 to connect with the Blind Bay Lookout, and White Lake trails systems. A great place for shorter loop options up to the old growth fir trees, and the first Balmoral Bluffs viewpoint through lovely forests.

From the parking lot, there is a lower easy loop through lovely open forest. At the top of this loop is a short trail that goes up to the top of a ridge, which, at the end, overlooks Alpen Paradies subdivision and Blind Bay. A great spot to enjoy an evening walk and end of the day sunsets. Continuing up from there, there are two ways up to the main connector trail between White Lake and Blind Bay. These can be done as an upper loop to extend your forest walk before returning to the trailhead parking lot, or as through-routes to the Blind Bay Lookout (upper trail to the left) or White Lake (lower trail).
