About

The Reinecker Creek trails provide opportunity for a lengthy day or overnight hike, snowshoe, or half to full day mountain bike circuits through the forested valley above Herald Provincial Park.

The East Trail is a 10 km long non-motorized singletrack trail that begins from Herald Park at the northmost point of the Upper Canyon Loop trail. There are two river crossing points that create an upper loop option using the FSR and doubletrack West Trail along the west side of the creek. The south crossing is approx. 5 km along the trail and the north crossing is another 5 km further at the north end. Note: Mountain Bikes can only access and exit Herald Park on the east side of the Upper Canyon Loop trail.

A 10 km upper loop is also possible from the south crossing to the north crossing by using the Bastion Mt FSR access to the middle trailhead (see below).

It is possible to continue past the north end of the trail system on the FSR into the White Lake Valley, but this route is unmarked and should only be used by those familiar with the area.

Herald Park access: 15 km west of Salmon Arm on Hwy 1, or 18 km east from Sorrento, turn east onto Sunnybrae-Canoe Point Rd and travel 12 km. Park at the Margaret Falls parking lot on the left (north) or in Herald Provincial Park day-use area on the right (south) side of the road.

Bastion Mtn FSR access: From Hwy 1, travel 7 km on Sunnybrae-Canoe Point Rd and turn left on Bastion Mountain FSR (watch for logging traffic, the first 2 km is very narrow and steep with no room for passing). Follow the main FSR for 6.4 km to the middle trailhead or 10.7 km to the upper trailhead.

Hike and snowshoe access: follow the trail signs from the north side of the parking lot back up to Sunnybrae Rd. Cross the road and continue up the wooden stairs.

Mountain bike access: Ride the parking lot road back up to Sunnybrae-Canoe Point Rd, turn left and ride back past the Margaret Falls parking lot to the yellow gate on the right. Keep straight ahead on the east side of the Upper Canyon Loop, then turn left right after you cross the bridge at the north end of the Canyon Loop.

Access

See Herald Provincial Park and Margaret Falls for the lower trailheads. Access the mid and upper trailheads via Bastion Mountain FSR (parking is limited at these trailheads).
