Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Shuswap Trail Alliance and the 5th Annual BC Trails Day

The Shuswap, Secwépemc Nation Territory, British Columbia – The Shuswap Trail Alliance (STA) is celebrating their 20th anniversary on BC trails day, featuring Five Alarm Funk and opening band The Shades, by hosting a family friendly Spring Trails Celebration at the South Canoe trailhead June 07, 4:00pm – 8:00pm.

Tickets for the Spring Trails Celebration are now on sale, General Admission is $35 and 18 & under are free, though do require pre-registration for the event. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.shuswaptrails.com  and clicking on the Eventbrite link on the homepage.

“We are grateful to have an opportunity to celebrate our 20th year in operation. This is a public event, and we hope to see the entire community including, our municipal and regional partners, the trail volunteers, stewards, trail users and more”. says Jen Bellhouse, Executive Director of the STA. “The collaboration between governments, organizations, and multiple user groups is something to commemorate and the Shuswap Trail Alliance would like the opportunity to celebrate trails with the people who make them possible”.

Five Alarm Funk is Canada's premiere sonic and visual assault. With 20 years’ experience, in high voltage Funk infusion, FAF has carved a new path of live entertainment. The engagement, the hilarity, the precision and execution have heralded these manic Funk Bots with eight studio albums, two JUNO nominations, three Western Canadian Music Awards and a rap sheet of positive reviews. Over the last 20 years, the band has toured premiere festivals across the globe in Canada, USA, Taiwan and even all the way to Mali, Africa at the UN headquarters. Five Alarm is ready to bring this fun, energized, atomic economic sonic and visual ritual to celebrate Shuswap Trails.

Opening band The Shades, formerly known as 6 Shades of Grey, are celebrating their 9th anniversary with a name change and a new member. Their set list reflects their involvement in bands over the years as they play hits from the 50ʼs up to the present, with a variety of genres from Country and Blues to Classic Rock and contemporary. Their multi-talented members play a variety of instruments, affording them the ability to add a 3-piece horn section to complement their blues selections, or a mandolin or acoustic guitar for some country or folk songs.

There will be a beverage garden featuring the Barley Station, Shuswap Cider co., and Sunnybrae Winery. Food trucks include the Yukon Smash, Tsilhqot'in BBQ, and the Tater Shack along with ShuPops and the Bannock Ladies. There will also be free face painting and a sand pit with toys for the kids. Be sure to bring a chair and a water bottle that you can fill at the H2O4U’s water stations.

This event would not be possible without the generous support from our event partner Salmon Arm Tourism, and sponsors: Salmon Arm Roots & Blues, Prestige Harbourfront Resort, Acorn Music, Shuswap Agricultural Association, Sparkling Hill Resort, Brooke Downs Vennard, Rancho Vignola, Askew’s Foods, RBC, Skookum Bike & Ski, Kintec, Monasheee Outdoors, and H2O4U.
