Owners of the Shuswap North Okanagan Rail Trail are pleased to announce that construction of the remainder of the trail is moving forward after the Agricultural Land Commission recently provided long awaited approvals, with conditions.
Construction will be led by Yucwmenlúcwu (Caretakers of the Land) LLP, a subsidiary of Splatsin Development Corporation (SDC), and will begin immediately. Work will continue throughout the season if weather conditions allow.
The trail owners will continue to collaborate with farmers to finalize access permits or easements for those who would like them. All existing agricultural crossings will be incorporated into the construction of the rail trail, regardless of whether an easement or permit is in place.
A Public Information Bulletin with access details, maps, and construction updates is available at shuswapnorthokanaganrailtrail.ca.
